Thank you to everyone who participated at #Mission1025 yesterday, assembling almost 1100 sacks of food to fill backpacks to feed students through our Backpack Ministry program! We are so grateful for the generosity, compassion, and love of our Keller UMC family!
We're a little over halfway through August and the Keller UMC Resource Center has already served 80 families consisting of 396 family members!! Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is often referred to as the greatest sermon ever preached. Found in chapters 5-7 of the Gospel of Matthew, the Sermon on the Mount is the source of some of the most well-known teachings of Jesus. But many of these teachings are also hard to swallow, and Christians are left wondering how to live into such high ideals. In our seven-week series, we’ll share how the Sermon on the Mount is not a set of impossible moral demands, but an invitation to a countercultural way of life, centered on the kingdom of God.
A few of our 2019 graduates offered a special gift to all of those going back to school! Blessings to all of our students, custodians, teachers, administrators, volunteers, and other school personnel! Have a wonderful schoolyear!

School is getting ready to start back and KUMC wants all the kids in our community to have a spiritually uplifting school year! August 10 and 11, children and youth from pre-k through high school are invited to bring their backpacks for a time of blessing in all four of our worship services. Then during 9:30 and 11am worship on August 11, Pre-K through 6th grade kids are invited to wear their pajamas to worship! After the blessing you will be dismissed to the FLC for a special breakfast. We hope to see you and your backpacks this weekend!
This morning we surround with prayer the families of the victims, the first responders, and the perpetrators of these shootings in El Paso and Dayton. We pray for strength, boldness, and increased resolve to act to reform public policies that make access to weapons too easy. We denounce racist, violent rhetoric that emboldens individuals to commit these hateful acts. Our souls cry out. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers. For ways that we as United Methodists can take a stand against gun violence, visit http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/ways-united-methodists-can-take-a-stand-against-gun-violence
Thank you to all the cast, crew, tech, volunteers, directors, supporters, encouragers, and family for three unbelievable performances of Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Jr. at this year's Summer Theater Workshop!
We won’t get into the whole “Is Batman really a superhero if he doesn’t have super powers?” argument. But we are incredibly grateful for you, our church family, and the super powers of love, hope, and justice that you extend to our community and the world. 😊 🦇
Come and share conversation with our new co-pastors! Jason and Estee value your thoughts about KUMC. Space is limited to 15 participants per session. Conversation dates begin July 22! Sign up for a time today!

Hey, why don’t you grab a seat, there’s something we want to talk to you about. Ok, I don’t know how to tell you this, but, umm ... Ok, you know how we have 24 hours in a normal day? And that’s great, right? Like that works really well for us, and we get into these great rhythms, and the sunrise and sunset are at totally reasonable times, right?! Well ... gosh, this is so hard ... um ... ok, this weekend, we get one less hour. Yeah, it just goes away. Right, like it never happened. I don’t understand it either, sweetheart. It’s just something we’ve always done. No, no, we would never do something like that to you! I mean, I think LBJ started it. I don’t know, maybe it made sense back then? [everyone crying] I love you, sweetheart, and we’ll get through this together, as a family. I promise. - THE END

For some reason, #DaylightSavingTime is still a thing, and it ends this weekend. Just think, someday, someone smart will make the decision that Daylight Saving Time needs to end for good. What a beautiful day that will be. Maybe we'll throw a party or something. We can bring nachos and some balloons and stuff. I dunno. Just throwing ideas out there.
